In a context where traditional education struggles to meet the complex needs of today’s youth, non-formal education offers flexible, inclusive and learner-centered alternatives. This Erasmus+ training course, held in Torino di Sangro (Abruzzo Region, Italy), brought together 27 participants from 10 European countries to explore how non-formal approaches can complement and strengthen learning within schools and formal education institutions.

The programme focused on key NFE principles such as intercultural dialogue, needs analysis, gender perspective and evaluation. Participants engaged in eight Theme Based Activities – including conflict resolution, sustainable development and critical thinking through media – selecting their own learning paths paths based on their individual educational goals.

The experience culminated in the creation of a handbook, gathering tools, insights and practices developed during the course. Designed as a resource for educators and youth workers, the publication promotes cooperation between formal and non-formal education systems and supports the implementation of innovative methods across Europe.
