As European youth increasingly engage in learning beyond formal contexts, the need to recognise and assess these experiences has become central to inclusive education policies. In response, this seminar, granted by Erasmus+ Programme, brought together 20 participants from 13 countries, youth workers, educators, NGO leaders to deepen their understanding of evaluation, assessment and recognition in the context of non-formal education.

Held in Chieti, Italy, the programme introduced and compared three major recognition tools: the Youth Work Portfolio (Council of Europe), Youthpass (EU), and Competences Passport. Participants also contributed with local best practices and engaged in collaborative reflection to identify shared guidelines and fields of application across youth centers, NGOs, schools and institutions.

The seminar concluded with the creation of a handbook compiling tools, examples, and recommendations for use by practitioners and organisations committed to validating non-formal learning. Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, the project supports the broader goal of improving youth inclusion and visibility of skills gained through non formal paths.
